Why setting up a PC for a new employee is never simple

Every time a new employee joins, there’s that moment of optimism:

“Just get their laptop ready.”

Just.

In theory, it’s quick. In reality, it’s a carefully choreographed dance of logins, permissions, security settings, profiles, syncs, and that one mysterious thing that refuses to work for absolutely no reason.

You think you’re almost done…

Then:

  • The email doesn’t connect
  • The cloud storage has a personality of its own
  • Security setup needs one more step
  • And something, somewhere, still belongs to the previous user

Suddenly, “ready in an hour” turns into a mini-series with multiple episodes.

The truth is, setting up a new machine isn’t one task—it’s a collection of tiny, interdependent tasks that all have to work perfectly at the same time.

And this is where having a good technician makes all the difference.
